Arriving and then Leaving

After a 7.5 hour car ride with Floyd in the passenger seat, we finally made it to Orlando yesterday. Not an eventful ride, although around hour 4, I started to slowly lose my mind. Floyd’s great and all, but he can’t really carry on a conversation (which is funny compared to Timmy who could talk to a plant and feel like he learned a lot from it).

Floyd in his bed in the passenger seat. He looks comfy, but he was mad at me. That's all the room he had to move.

Also, driving by yourself with an adopted pet who’s quite anxious, it’s pretty challenging. You have to make sure they’re not overheating, bored, upset when you get out of the car to get gas or go to the bathroom, make sure they’re drinking water, etc. Needless to say, we went and got Mexican food nearly the second I unloaded the car.

And to top it all off, YOU CAN’T FIT ANYTHING IN A MINI COOPER. I had to leave half of my stuff at my parents’ house, the stuff that was only supposed to last me the two months I was staying with them. That was really uncool man, uncool. But whatever, stuff is stuff, I’m just concerned now about moving from here to Lakeland tomorrow. We HAVE to do this tomorrow so that we have time to unpack and get settled, get cable and internet installed, all before I start work next Monday.

And poor Timmy. Now that we’re finally here, he can be released from isolation. And if you know Timmy, that is like purgatory times 5 for him. No TV, nobody to talk to, nothing in this apartment but white walls and a fridge full of alcohol and condiments. Not a great combo. So by the time we got to the restaurant last night, he was like a ticking time bomb. Next stranger to cross his path beware, you probably won’t get a word in edgewise…which is precisely what happened. My annoyance level aside, he needed to release his verbal hurricane on someone, and I’m kinda glad it wasn’t me. 🙂

I had my going away party at Ormsby’s in Atlanta on Friday and I laughed, I cried a whole bunch, and loved every second of seeing my friends before I left. My old roommate brought the best cupcakes I have ever had. She ordered them from Baked from Melissa in NY and had them shipped here. One bite cupcakes. THEY WERE AMAZEBALLS. I did act like a waitress and start giving them away, table by table, since there’s no way I could take down that many cupcakes. I was pretty popular at the bar after that.

Weren’t able to make it? Here are some pix so you can feel like you were there (minus the unreal hangover I had the next morning. You weren’t invited to that).

This pic took some effort, mainly because it was the end of the night. Oy!

So that’s my update so far. Let’s see how the move goes tomorrow, and hopefully we’ll be done and ready to settle. I mean in the apartment, not in life. Cause that would never happen.
